Myself, I just think it's cool that there's an incentive (large or small) to get LOADS of people playing PvP at once.

I personally would love to see fame doubled... I don't really care about faction since I enjoy PvE and it's not a burden to me to unlock skills and upgrades and such. But I enjoy the quest for greater fame and higher rank

so...
no summer update to be expected this week. after all, would you release 2 high content area's when you are having PvP extreme this weekend? it would only take the focus of one of them.

A lot of times, RA is my favourite PvP. I don't know why, I think it's the edge of not knowing if you'll have a team of, say, four Elementalists. Or if you'll get on a team in the International District where everyone speaks a different language. When you have a good guild, you get into a certain expectation of victory. When you get into RA and whoop tail, sometimes that feeling just takes the cake.

So yeah, I think some of the devs will be in Random Arenas this weekend.

Wtf? Is this what they promised PvP'ers could look forward to? What about people that are going away this weekend? What about people that can only play mid-week? What about casual players only able to play 1-2 hours a day, max?

This is perhaps the most retarded solution possible besides doing nothing. GG Anet.

If you read the event info or paid attention to any posts, they ARE going to implement some balance changes. Whether or not it will be for the better or be permanent we have yet to see. It's like a testing period, which I don't see is bad.

And the timing? It's not like everyone planned to go away this weekend, or are going to play nonstop 3-day GW marathons. (I hope for their sakes...) A person could just pop on, play some RA, then quit. It's not the end of the world if they miss this XTREME event. Who knows, all the changes could be permanent. Perhaps you're missing out on it?

This weekend only, gain full faction for guild-vs-guild victories, regardless of the period of time you've been a member of your guild.
Maybe I'm missing something, but that's a penalty?

Hm, I honestly think that ANet should delay putting these changes in permanently, in order to give the ungrateful whiners time to leave this community and go and do something else they hate doing. I really think that ANET can do no good in these people's eyes, and we would really be better off without them.

That said, i'm glad to see ANET taking the initiative, hopefully this is a sign of things to come...

I was kinda hoping the website would give specific details about the PvP skill balances they are implementing this weekend... Oh well, guess we'll have to see. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the Summer update will come out this week.

But this just proves my previous theory - People will whine no matter what they A.Net does.

Great solution to account unlocking and grind for pvp! Currently 3k+ hours nonstop pvp'ing required to unlock everything. Being common knowledge that nobody wants to grind for more than 100 hours, the most logical solution would be to increase faction by 30x+....perma.

Nono, lets make it a 3-day thing with 5x faction, and then lets call it extreme. It's alright, we'll just send our slave monkey (Gaile) out to the forums, to defend our shitty decisions. She'll surely prevent the fanboys from seeing how little we do, and how little we care.

This is a test.
Imo it's bleeding obvious they want to see how fast people can earn faction and will likely scale it up or down permanently a while after reviewing the feedback.

People complaining about real life getting in the way.... well you just need to reconsider your priorites methinks

Nobody ever said this was meant to be a solution.

That's pretty funny. "How little they care."? Ha. Why would they be updating and adding events for free if they did not care? They've already got your $50s in their pockets. You know, everyone seems to complain about how the summer update hasn't arrived yet. If you've been playing this game long enough to complain about the summer update, surely you've been playing long enough yo get 50 dollars worth of gaming, no?

Smurfs will rock the place (yes, nobody will want to wait more than 2s for a GvG) and the people who already have most things unlocked/top guilds will prey on the weaker masses. It's a dumb way of testing it because they will see that some people benefit tons upon tons, and adjust faction accordingly. It's the casual players that need 100 hours of grind to unlock everything, and they make (and ironically, made up) the overwhelming masses of this game and they need their 30x faction.

Anet pulls another joke and Gaile and Alex are sent in to pretend liking it. Their job gatta suck
